Podcast Shownotes
I talk to so many women each week who may have lost a significant amount of weight in the past, but they struggle to keep it off. Most diets out there will help you lose weight initially, but studies show that between 91 to 95 per cent of people put the weight back on. And the reason is that most diets aren’t catered to you as an individual and they aren’t sustainable.
Weight loss maintenance is a super important aspect that most people don’t think about when they’re starting a diet. If you’ve experienced a similar struggle, and you’re looking for a way to lose weight and keep it off effortlessly, this episode is for you. I’m sharing the 3 pillars I use in my work as a nutritionist to help women lose weight and maintain their weight loss while also enjoying their lives and the food that they love.
In my years of experience working as a nutritionist and in my own weight loss journey, I discovered three important aspects that long-term sustainable weight loss requires.
Nutrition
The foundation of any successful weight loss journey lies in personalised nutrition. We are all unique and although you might be able to lose weight by following a restrictive eating plan or intermittent fasting protocol, this quickly becomes unsustainable, especially when life gets busy. This is why I take an all-foods-fit approach, teaching my clients how to integrate their favourite foods while also building sustainable eating habits that last.
Mindset
While nutrition is crucial in achieving your weight loss goals, mindset is equally important for maintaining those results. I have discovered three key aspects of mindset that can make or break your journey: Understanding your self-sabotaging triggers, learning how to manage your emotions and embracing a new identity centred around healthy habits and a positive relationship with food. Without these mindset shifts, it will be extremely difficult to maintain your weight loss, especially during times of stress.
Lifestyle Integration
The final pillar focuses on integrating your weight loss journey seamlessly into your lifestyle.
Weight loss and nutrition need to be simple. Don’t overcomplicate things and make it hard for yourself to celebrate life with family and friends. Sustainable weight loss is about learning how to integrate healthy habits into your life instead of sacrificing things you love doing.
Integrating the three pillars of nutrition, mindset and lifestyle will provide you with a holistic approach to sustainable weight loss. By incorporating these pillars into your daily life, you will not only lose weight, but you will keep it off easily. Remember, it’s not just about shedding the kilograms, it's about creating a lifestyle that supports your well-being for the long term.
